SCF's Maja Ristic named NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 29, 2014) - State College of Florida's Maja Ristic has been named the NJCAA's Division I Volleyball Player of the Week.

Ristic was named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week on Tuesday. 

A sophomore outside hitter from Brcko, Bosnia, Ristic averaged 6.5 kills and 3.8 digs over 11 sets and three matches during the voting period.

She posted double-doubles in all three matches, beginning with 24 kills and 20 digs against Polk State (October 21) in a five-set victory that gave the Manatees the Suncoast Conference Championship. Ristic followed that with 30 kills and 11 digs against St. Petersburg (October 23) and 17 kills and 11 digs against Central Florida (October 25). She did not play in the team’s match against Webber JV on October 25. 

Ristic is the fourth player from Region 8 to be named NJCAA Player of the Week in 2014, joining Melina Staengle (Pasco-Hernando State), Alica Kandler (Daytona State) and Julymar Otero (Central Florida).
