TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 28, 2014) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Volleyball Coaches’ Poll and Player of the Week recipients for October 28.
The final regular season poll will be released November 4.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week
Maja Ristic, State College of Florida

State College of Florida’s Maja Ristic is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week. Ristic, a sophomore from Brcko, Bosnia, averaged 6.5 kills and 3.8 digs over 11 sets and three matches during the voting period. She posted double-doubles in all three matches, beginning with 24 kills and 20 digs against Polk State (October 21) in a five-set victory that gave the Manatees the Suncoast Conference Championship. Ristic followed that with 30 kills and 11 digs against St. Petersburg (October 23) and 17 kills and 11 digs against Central Florida (October 25). She did not play in the team’s match against Webber JV on October 25.

Week

Hillsborough Community College’s Cherlie Adorno DeJesus is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. DeJesus, a freshman from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, averaged 7.9 digs over 15 sets and four matches during the voting period. She added to her FCSAA lead in digs, recording at least 20 in each match, including her 14th and 15th entries into the FCSAA’s 25 Dig Club. DeJesus recorded 44 – her sixth 40-dig effort of the season – against Florida College and 32 against Florida State College at Jacksonville, both on October 25.
