FT. PIERCE, Fla. (November 12, 2014) - The Indian River State College Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams continued their 2014-2015 season this past weekend playing host to NOVA Southeastern University. Both teams traded the lead throughout the duration of the meet, but in the end, it would be a win for the IRSC men’s team, and a heart breaking loss by only 2 points for the IRSC women.

For the second straight time, the women started the meet of with a win in the first event with the team of Barbara Caraballo, Christina Loh, Tayla Lovemore, and Lindsay Lee taking the top spot. Caraballo would also go on to win her other 2 events in the 400 IM and 100 freestyle. Other winners included Christina Loh (100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke), and Lindsay Lee in the 100 backstroke. Nova’s women would win the final event and overtake IRSC to win the meet with a score of 101-103.

The men’s competition was equally as exciting with IRSC’s men taking the first event. The team of Stefan Stojmenovic, Craig Emslie, Shota Nakano, and Adam Wise secured the win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.34. Emslie would go on to win the 100 freestyle, and 100 breaststroke. Matt Nielsen took the 1650 freestyle top spot, and Shota Nakano the 100 butterfly. IRSC would win 5 of the 11 events contested, but it was the clean sweep of the top 3 spots in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke that would ultimately give IRSC enough points to secure the victory before going into the final event and a final score of 107-98.

IRSC Next travels to Atlanta Georgia for the Georgia Tech Invitational November 20-22, where both teams will be competing against some of the top colleges in the nation.
