Indian River State College Swimming & Diving competes at FIU's Sprint Invitational

FIU Sprint Invitational Results

FT. PIERCE, Fla. (January 8, 2015) - The Indian River State College men’s and women’s swimming and diving team returned to action for the second half of the season when they competed in the Florida International University Sprint Invitational in Miami.

Ten teams from around the country, all in Miami for their annual holiday training trips, met at the campus of FIU for the contest.

The Indian River State women team came away with 3rd place overall in the women’s competition winning seven of the 15 events contested. Leading the way for the team was Barbara Caraballo (1st in the 50 fly, 100 free, and 100IM), Christina Loh (1st in the 50 and 100 breast), and Ashley Wright who won both the 1m and 3m diving events.

On the men’s side of the competition, Indian River State came away with the overall victory after winning 11 of the 15 events. Event winners were Craig Emslie (50 and 100 breast, and 100 IM), Stefan Stojmenovic (50 and 100 fly, and 50 back), Bryce Timonera (100 back and 100 free), Zach Duvall (3m diving), and the 200 medley and freestyle relay teams.

Indian River State returns to action Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m. when it hosts the University of Tampa. The following day, the team will travel to Lakeland, Fla., to compete against Florida Southern University.
