Chipola women, NWF State men continue to lead Region 8 in NJCAA BK Polls

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 18, 2015) - The National Junior College Athletic Association released its men's and women's basketball polls on Wednesday.

One-loss Chipola College, the No. 1 team in the FCSAA Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, is No. 3 in the Division I Women's Basketball Poll and leads six teams from Region 8 in the Top 25.

Chipola and No. 5 Northwest Florida State College will play in Saturday's regular season finale to determine the Panhandle Conference's No. 1 seed in the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Tournament. Chipola has already locked up a share of the PC Championship and can claim the outright championship with a victory on the Raiders' home floor.

If Northwest Florida State wins, the teams will share the title but the Raiders will claim the No. 1 seed by virtue of owning the head-to-head tie-breaker.

Tenth-ranked College of Central Florida and No. 18 Daytona State College will decide the Mid-Florida Conference Championship and either No. 22 Tallahassee Community College or No. 24 Gulf Coast State College will clinch the Panhandle's third postseason berth.

After being ranked No. 21 last week, Eastern Florida State College fell out of the poll but still received votes.

In the Division I Men's Basketball Poll, No. 3 Northwest Florida State leads a quartet of Region 8 teams in the Top 25.

The Raiders and No. 6 Eastern Florida State College have already clinched the Panhandle and Southern Conference Championships, respectively.

No. 20 St. Petersburg College, the Suncoast Conference Champion, entered the poll for the first time this season and No. 24 Broward College jumped back into the poll after receiving votes last week.
