Adkins, Labozetta claim national pitcher of the week honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 30, 2015) - Region 8 claimed a pair of national honors on Thursday. 

Seminole State College's Stephanie Adkins was named NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week while Polk State College took home NJCAA Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors. 

Both players received NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Adkins, a sophomore from Orlando, Fla., went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances during the voting period.

She picked up three complete-game victories, including an eight-inning effort vs. Polk State, to run her record to 22-5. In 22 total innings in the circle, she allowed 13 hits, four runs (all unearned) and only four walks.

Keyed by a pair of double-digit strikeout efforts, including 12 against St. Petersburg, she struck out a total 30 batters. 

Labozetta, a sophomore from Lakeland, Fla., was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance during the voting period.

Against South Florida State on April 21, he pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout in the Eagles’ 10-0, seven-inning victory.

Labozetta held South Florida State hitless through four innings, finishing with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
