TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 21, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Baseball and Softball Coaches’ Polls and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for April 21.

This is the final regular season poll for softball. The next baseball poll will be released Tuesday, April 28.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week
Yordany Salva, Broward
Freshman – C
Vega Alta, P.R. 

Broward College’s Yordany Salva is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week. Salva, a freshman from Vega Alta, P.R., batted .556 (5-for-9) with three runs scored, three doubles, one home run and seven RBIs in three games during the voting period. Salva extended hitting streak to five games by hitting safely in each outing. After going 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two walks against the Northwood JV on April 15, he opened a series with Indian River State by going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and finishing a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Bob Peck, Pasco-Hernando State
Sophomore – RHP
New Port Richey, Fla. 

Pasco-Hernando State College’s Bob Peck is this week’s NJCAA Region8/FCSAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Peck, a sophomore from New Port Richey, Fla., was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two appearances during the voting period. He picked up wins over IMG Academy and St. Petersburg, running his record on the season to 7-1. Against St. Petersburg, he scattered seven hits over seven innings with two strikeouts. For the week, Peck totaled 12 innings of work, struck out seven and walked none.  

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Player of the Week
Taylor Morrow, Central Florida
Sophomore – 3B
Lutz, Fla.

The College of Central Florida’s Taylor Morrow is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Player of the Week. Morrow, a sophomore from Lutz, Fla., batted .571 (8-for-14) with six runs scored, two doubles and four RBIs in four games during the voting period. She hit safely in both games of doubleheaders against St. Johns River State and Daytona State and recorded three multi-hit games. Against Daytona State, she was a combined 5-for-9, with three runs scored and three RBIs, leading Central Florida to its first-ever Mid-Florida Conference Championship.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Williams, Seminole State
Freshman – RHP
Callahan, Fla. 

Seminole State College’s Morgan Williams is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. Williams, a freshman from Callahan, Fla., went 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA in two appearances during the voting period. She was the winning pitcher in game two wins over Daytona State and St. Johns River State that helped the Raiders lock up the No. 2 seed in the Mid-Florida Conference. In the 1-0 win over Daytona State, she tossed a one-hitter and struck out four. For the week, she totaled 13 innings in the circle, allowed only six hits, one run and three walks, and struck out 12.
