TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards in basketball.


November 13, 2023 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for all games through November 12)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Josue Grullon, Daytona State
  • Region 8 DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Tarence Guinyard, Florida State College at Jacksonville
  • Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Jasmine Jones, Chipola

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Fall & Winter Sports Updates

  • Volleyball
    • Division I: No. 1 seed Florida SouthWestern State College, No. 3 Miami Dade College and No. 12 Daytona State College will open play in the NJCAA DI Volleyball Championship on Wednesday in Hutchinson, Kan.
    • Division II: No. 12 seed Pensacola State College and No. 13 Gulf Coast State College will open play in the NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship on Wednesday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
  • Men's Soccer
    • Division I: Eastern Florida State College dropped its first match in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship, falling 3-2 to Murray State. The Titans need to beat Tyler by at least two goals on Tuesday to advance out of pool play. 
  • Women's Soccer
    • Division I: Eastern Florida State beat Barton, 1-0, in its first match in the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Championship and needs to beat Tyler on Tuesday to advance out of pool play.
  • Cross Country
    • Men: Daytona State finished third in the NJCAA DII Cross Country Championships and the Falcons' Jared Falchook was the top FCSAA performer, finishing fourth in the 8K. Pasco-Hernando State College finished 12th followed by Lake-Sumter State College (18th), Florida State College at Jacksonville (19th) and Florida Gateway College (29th). Eastern Florida State placed 17th in the DI race with Dayton Law finishing 54th.
    • Women: Daytona State edged out Pasco-Hernando State to finish 6th in the NJCAA DII Cross Country Championships. The Bobcats were 7th and Florida Gateway made it three FCSAA teams in the top ten, finishing 10th. South Florida State College placed 20th followed by Florida State College at Jacksonville (24th), the College of Central Florida (33rd), Pensacola State College (35th) and Lake-Sumter State (37th). Daytona State's Giovana Meade was the top individual runner, finishing 4th in the 5K. In the DI race, Eastern Florida State placed 15th and Seminole State College, 20th. The Titans' Rachel Starr was the top individual runner, finishing 17th. 
    • Several teams are still in Huntsville, Ala., for Tuesday's NJCAA Half Marathon.
  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: The first NJCAA DI Poll of the regular season was released Monday and Northwest Florida State College remained No. 1. They are joined in the poll by No. 8 Chipola College, No. 13 Daytona State College and No. 20 Eastern Florida State College. Florida SouthWestern, Indian River State College and Gulf Coast State received votes. 
    • Division II: In the first NJCAA DII Poll of the regular season, Palm Beach State College received votes.
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: The FCSAA boasts the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the first NJCAA DI Poll of the regular season. Northwest Florida State remained No. 1 while Gulf Coast State climbed to No. 2. They are joined in the poll by No. 10 Pensacola State College and No. 18 Chipola College.
    • Division II:  In the first NJCAA DII Poll of the regular season, Palm Beach State College received votes.
  • Swimming & Diving
    • Men: Indian River State is still unbeaten this fall, picking up wins vs. Keiser (193-69) and Florida Tech (198-64). The Pioneers will head to Florida Tech for the Panther Invite, November 17-19. The College of the Florida Keys will return to action this weekend as well, participating in the TYR SOFLO Last Chance and Holiday Classic.
    • Women: The PIoneer women are unbeaten as well, following wins vs. Keiser (171-91) and Florida Tech (198-63). Like the men, they, too, will be back in the water at the Panther Invite, November 17-19. Meanwhile, the College of the Florida Keys will return to action this weekend at the TYR SOFLO Last Chance and Holiday Classic.
  • Golf
    • Men: Eastern Florida State wrapped up its fall schedule with a fifth-place finish in the Jefferson State Fall Invitational.
