TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


March 25, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games March 18-24)

  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Hector Mangual, Eastern Florida State
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Cooper Whited, Gulf Coast State
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: Christina Mason, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: Cailyn Heyl, Northwest Florida State
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Anthony Ruiz, Palm Beach State
  • DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Tyler Toro, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Player of the Week: Alyssa Vallad, St. Johns River State
  • DII Softball Pitcher of the Week: Caylee Elder, St. Johns River State

Winter Sports Updates

  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: Northwest Florida State College advanced to the quarterfinals at the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship with an 85-70 win over Cowley (Kan.) College on Monday. Daytona State College dropped its opening round game to Walters (Tenn.) State Community College, 85-82. Chipola College will play its first game in the tournament on Tuesday.
    • Division II: After an opening-round victory, Florida State College at Jacksonville dropped its next two games at the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship to end its season at 26-10. 
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: The first of three FCSAA teams in Casper, Wyo., hit the floor at the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday when Eastern Florida State College plays North Dakota State College of Science. Both Gulf Coast State College and Northwest Florida State College will hit the floor for the first time on Thursday.

Spring Sports Updates

  • Baseball
    • Division I: Gulf Coast State's run atop the NJCAA DI Poll ended, as the Commodores dropped to No. 5 and Pensacola State College moved up to No. 2. Northwest Florida State is No. 16 and Indian River State College received votes. 
    • Division II: In the NJCAA DII Poll, St. Johns River State College is No. 11 and Pasco-Hernando State College, No. 13 for the second straight week.
  • Softball
    • Division I: Northwest Florida State, Florida SouthWestern State College and Indian River State are now Nos. 2-4, respectively, in the NJCAA DI Poll. The College of Central Florida dropped to No. 11 while Gulf Coast State is No. 13, Santa Fe College is No. 16 and Seminole State College is No. 19. Eastern Florida State received votes.  
    • Division II: St. Johns River State moved up one spot to No. 15 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
  • Women's Flag Football: Florida Gateway College won its sixth straight game on March 20, defeating Life University, 38-0.  
  • Men's Tennis: Eastern Florida State improved to 6-2 on the season with a 9-0 win over St. Lawrence. 
  • Women's Tennis: Hillsborough Community College picked up a pair of wins on March 19, beating Frankling Pierce (6-0) and Southeastern (7-2); Eastern Florida State beat St. Lawrence, 9-0.
  • Women's Golf: Seminole State placed 9th in the Spring Break Shootout hosted by Western Kentucky University in Dade City, Fla.
