TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


March 18, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games March 11-17)

  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Edwin Toribio, Central Florida
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Bryon Rincones, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: Sietske Drijvers, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: Alanna O'Brien, Eastern Florida State
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Elvin Figueroa, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Preston James, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Player of the Week: Megan Wright, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Pitcher of the Week: Carolyn Lasater, St. Johns River State

Winter Sports Updates

  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: FCSAA Champion Chipola College earned the No. 6 seed in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship; Northwest Florida State College and Daytona State College, who earned at-large bids, are seeded No. 8 and No. 16, respectively.
    • Division II: No. 18 seed Florida State College at Jacksonville had a successful debut at the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, scoring an 89-75 upset of No. 15 Howard in Monday's first round game.
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: FCSAA Champion Northwest Florida State earned the No. 3 seed in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship; Gulf Coast State College is seeded fifth while Eastern Florida State College is No. 10. Both Gulf Coast State and Eastern Florida State were at-large entries into the field.    

Spring Sports Updates

  • Baseball
    • Division I: Gulf Coast State College remained No. 1 in the NJCAA DI Poll while Pensacola State College is No. 5, Northwest Florida State is No. 14 and Indian River State College received votes. 
    • Division II: In the NJCAA DII Poll, St. Johns River State College is No. 11 and Pasco-Hernando State College, No. 13. Palm Beach State College received votes. 
  • Softball
    • Division I: Region 8 has seven teams in the NJCAA DI Poll, including Northwest Florida State and Florida SouthWestern at No. 2 and No. 3 and Indian River State, No. 5, respectively. The College of Central Florida is No. 7, Gulf Coast State College is No. 10, Seminole State College is No. 16 and Santa Fe College, No. 20. Eastern Florida State and Chipola received votes.  
    • Division II: St. Johns River State moved up one spot to No. 16 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
  • Women's Flag Football: Florida Gateway College swept four weekend games at Reinhardt University. The Timberwolves beat Keiser (20-14), Reinhardt (28-0), St. Thomas (13-7) and Webber (12-0).
