TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


January 22, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for games January 15-21)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Andrija Bukumirovic, Eastern Florida State
  • Region 8 DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Amayoa'ah Phillips, Florida Gateway 
  • Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Masiel Reyes, Hillsborough

Sports Updates

  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: Eastern Florida State College's win over previously unbeaten Daytona State College boosted the Titans inside the Top 20, checking in at No. 18 in the NJCAA DI Poll. That result shook up the top of the poll as well, with Chipola College moving to No. 4, followed by No. 5 Daytona State and No. 6 Northwest Florida State College. Florida SouthWestern State College is ranked No. 20. 
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: Northwest Florida State and Gulf Coast State College are 1-2 in the NJCAA DI Poll. Pensacola State College fell to No. 13 while Eastern Florida State continues to surge upward, rising to No. 15. Chipola is ranked No. 25.     
    • Division II:  Palm Beach State College is still ranked No. 14 in the NJCAA DII Poll.   
  • Baseball
    • Division I: Defending national champion College of Central Florida opens the season atop the NJCAA DI Poll. Northwest Florida State is ranked No. 6 and Florida SouthWestern State College, No. 16. Chipola and Pensacola State received votes. 
    • Division II: St. Johns River State College earned its highest preseason ranking in school history, landing at No. 5 in the NJCAA DII Poll. Pasco-Hernando State College is No. 14 and Palm Beach State received votes. 
  • Softball
    • Division I: The last two teams standing in 2023 open the 2024 campaign atop the NJCAA DI Poll, with defending national champion Florida SouthWestern No. 1 and Northwest Florida State No. 2. Central Florida is ranked No. 7 followed by No. 10 Indian River State College, No. 13 Seminole State College. 
    • Division II: Lake-Sumter State College opens the season No. 15 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
