TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards in basketball.

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for games January 1-7)
Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:
- Region 8 DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Dezdrick Lindsay, Florida SouthWestern
- Region 8 DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Eduardo Diaz, Palm Beach State
- Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Amelia Hassett, Eastern Florida State

Winter Sports Updates
- Men's Basketball
- Division I: Florida SouthWestern re-entered the national rankings at No. 25, following a win at then-No. 19 Eastern Florida State College, giving Region 8 six teams in the NJCAA DI Poll. Daytona State College and Northwest Florida State College moved to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while Chipola College stayed put at No. 14. Indian River State College is No. 20 and Eastern Florida State, No. 23.
- Women's Basketball
- Division I: Northwest Florida State remained No. 1 in the NJCAA DI Poll while Gulf Coast State College climbed one spot to No. 3. Pensacola State College slipped three spots to No. 10. Chipola and Eastern Florida State are Nos. 20 and 21, respectively.
- Division II: Palm Beach State moved up three spots to No. 16 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
