TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


February 19, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games February 12-18)

  • DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Owen Aquino, Eastern Florida State
  • DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Tarence Guinyard, Florida State College at Jacksonville
  • Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Tahnyjia Purifoy, Chipola
  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Nik Pereira, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Jordan Huskey, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: Christina Mason, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: Tori Beland, Seminole State
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Luke Bentley, Lake-Sumter State

Winter Sports Updates

  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: The NJCAA DI Poll will be released today. 
    • Division II: Seeding for the FCSAA Division II/NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Championship will be determined this week. Heading into the final two games of the Region 8 schedule, Florida State College at Jacksonville owns a one-game lead over Palm Beach State College. Those two teams meet on Wednesday in Jacksonville. 
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: The NJCAA DI Poll will be released today.        
    • Division II:  The NJCAA DII Poll will be released today. Palm Beach State and Florida State College at Jacksonville will play for the third and final time on Saturday. The Panthers have already wrapped up the Region 8 Championship and a bid to the NJCAA Division II South District Championship Game on March 9 in Bay Minette, Ala.   
  • Swimming & Diving: Indian River State College is gearing up to host the 2024 NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, March 6-9. The River men will be going for its 50th straight National Championship while the women will be chasing a 42nd straight national title. The College of the Florida Keys also be representing Region 8 in the pool.  

Spring Sports Updates

  • Women's Golf: Playing at the Sea Best Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville University, Daytona State College placed 8th, three spots ahead of Seminole State College. Eastern Florida State College teed off at the Dalton State Kinderloo Invitational on Monday. 
  • Men's Golf: Eastern Florida State finished 3rd at the Lioneer Invitational.
