TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for games January 29-February 4)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Dezdrick Lindsay, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Ty'Jahn Wright, Florida Gateway
  • Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Tanaujeah Brown, Florida State College at Jacksonville
  • Region 8 DI Baseball Player of the Week: Allan Gil-Fernandez, State College of Florida
  • Region 8 DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Cooper Whited, Gulf Coast State
  • Region 8 DI Softball Player of the Week: Izabell LaRoche, Seminole State

Sports Updates

  • Men's Basketball
    • Division I: Daytona State College sits at No. 4 for the second straight week in the NJCAA DI Poll. Northwest Florida State College dropped to No. 7 while Eastern Florida State College moved up to No. 14. A pair of losses dropped Chipola College ten spots to No. 19 and Florida SouthWestern State College moved down one spot to No. 21 following Saturday's overtime loss at Daytona State.   
  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: Gulf Coast State College and Northwest Florida State are Nos. 1 and 3, respectively, for the second straight week in the NJCAA DI Poll. Eastern Florida State moved into the top ten at No. 9 while Pensacola State College moved up one spot to No. 15.       
    • Division II:  Palm Beach State College moved up one spot to No. 13 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
