TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Volleyball.


August 28, 2023 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for all events/matches through August 27)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Player of the Week: Ana Tevdoradze, Miami Dade
  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Mia Martinez, Miami Dade
  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Setter of the Week: Roberta Purashaj, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Player of the Week: Anyaliz Rodriguez, Pensacola State
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Izzy Denton, Gulf Coast State
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Setter of the Week: Kiara Vega, Pensacola State

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Hurricane Idalia Postponements/Cancellations

Fall Sports Updates

  • Volleyball
    • Division I: Behind a 7-0 start, Eastern Florida State College earned a top ten NJCAA ranking for the first time in school history, jumping to No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I Poll. The Titans joined No. 1 Florida SouthWestern State College and No. 2 Miami Dade College in the top ten. Daytona State College is No. 15.  
    • Division II: Gulf Coast State College soared to No. 3 in the NJCAA Division II Poll behind three wins over top ten oppoents at the Opening Weekend Tournament. A win over No. 1 Richard Bland College propelled St. Johns River State College from unranked to No. 14. 
  • Men's Soccer: Daytona State College is ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA's first regular season poll while Eastern Florida State checks in at No. 10.
  • Women's Soccer
    • Division I: Eastern Florida State is ranked No. 4 in the NJCAA's first regular season poll while Daytona State is ranked No. 9.
    • Division II: Pensacola State College enjoyed a successful program debut, defeating Hinds (Miss.) Community College, 3-2, on August 18.
  • Cross Country: The first full weekend of the regular season will see teams on the trails across Florida and Georgia, weather permitting.
