TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


April 1, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games March 25-31)

  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Nate Earley, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Kenneth Robinson, Eastern Florida State
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: McKenzie Cain, Gulf Coast State
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: Esmee Ames, Florida SouthWestern
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Derek Bermudez, South Florida State
  • DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Tyler Toro, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Player of the Week: Emma Chisholm, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Pitcher of the Week: Jayda Smith, Pasco-Hernando State

Winter Sports Updates

  • Women's Basketball
    • Division I: Northwest Florida State College fell in Monday night's National Championship Game, losing to Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, 88-80 in overtime. 

Spring Sports Updates

  • Baseball
    • Division I: Gulf Coast State College stayed put at No. 5 in NJCAA DI Poll while Pensacola State College slipped to No. 8. Northwest Florida State is No. 20 and both Florida SouthWestern State College and Indian River State College received votes.  
    • Division II: In the NJCAA DII Poll, Pasco-Hernando State College dropped one spot to No. 13, St. Johns River State College fell four spots to No. 15 and Lake-Sumter State College is No. 20, the Lakehawks' first national ranking in school history. 
  • Softball
    • Division I: Northwest Florida State, Florida SouthWestern State College and Indian River State are still Nos. 2-4, respectively, in the NJCAA DI Poll. The College of Central Florida is No. 11, Gulf Coast State, No. 12, and Santa Fe College, No. 14. Eastern Florida State and Seminole State College received votes.   
    • Division II: St. Johns River State cotinued to climb the NJCAA DII Poll, moving up two spots to No. 13.
  • Women's Golf: Daytona State and Seminole State finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, as the Babs Steffens Invitational.
