TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 6, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Volleyball and Cross Country.


September 5, 2022 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for all events/matches August 29-September 4)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Player of the Week: Alice Munari, Hillsborough
  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Alina Carrillo, Daytona State
  • Region 8 DI Volleyball Setter of the Week: Arianna Warner, Daytona State
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Player of the Week: Anyaliz Rodriguez, Pensacola State
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Alina Schneider, St. Johns River State
  • Region 8 DII Volleyball Setter of the Week: Kendall Steinert, State College of Florida
  • Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Sebastian Hernandez, Daytona State
  • Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Shannon Jones, Daytona State

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Fall Sports Updates

  • Women's Golf: Host Seminole State College placed first in the Seminole State Warm-up, kicking off the fall season. The Raiders finished six strokes ahead of Florida Southern and were 17 shots clear of third-place Eastern Florida State College. Seminole State's Ayami Takahashi took individual honors, finishing three over par.
  • Cross Country: Daytona State College's men finished third at the annual VSU Border Clash, paced by Sebastian Hernandez, who finished third in the men's individual standings. On the ladies' side, Shannon Jones finished 18th overall to help the Falcons to a seventh-place finish, one spot ahead of Florida Gateway College.  Meanwhile, the College of Central Florida women and Pasco-Hernando State College men debuted at the NJCAA Pre-Nationals/TCC XC Open on Sunday at Apalachee Regional Park. Pasco-Hernando produced a perfect score in both races to claim top team honors. The Bobcats' Luis Cruzado and Gabrielle Marshall took men's and women's individual honors, respectively.
