TCC's Patterson, EFSC's Mputu named NJCAA Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 18, 2023) - A pair of Region 8 standouts were honored on Wednesday when the NJCAA announced its basketball Player of the Week selections.

Tallahassee Community College's Addison Patterson was named the Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week while Eastern Florida State College's L'or Eyeba Mputu was named Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Patterson, a sophomore guard from Mississauga, ONT, Canada, averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.0 steals in two games. He shot 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from the field, 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from three and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the free throw line.

Patterson led Tallahassee to wins at #25 Northwest Florida State College and at home against Pensacola State College, posting six assists and five steals in each game. He tallied 15 points and five rebounds in the win at NWF and 21 points, four rebounds against the Pirates. 

This marked the third consecutive week the Men's Player of the Week award has gone to a participant in Region 8.

Mputu, a sophomore forward from the Democratic Republic of the Congo averaged 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in two games. She shot 76.7 percent (23-of-30) from the field and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line.

Mputu led Eastern Florida State to Central Conference wins over Santa Fe College and Daytona State College.

She connected on 10-of-15 shots en route to 23 points (and nine rebounds) vs. Santa Fe then was even more efficient against Daytona State, knocking down 13-of-15 shots on her way to a career-high 32 points.

Both Patterson and Mputu were named Region 8 Players of the Week on Tuesday.
