TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 21, 2023) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball and Softball.


Region 8 Coaches' Polls - February 20, 2023

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (February 13-19)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Jadrian Tracey, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Malea Brown, Santa Fe 
  • Region 8 Division I Baseball Player of the Week: A.J. Shaver, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Ramsey David, Northwest Florida State
  • Region 8 Division I Softball Player of the Week: Abigail Pippen, Northwest Florida State
  • Region 8 Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week: Rycca Hinton, Northwest Florida State
  • Region 8 Division II Baseball Player of the Week: Myles Liggans, St. Johns River State
  • Region 8 Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Connor McBride, St. Johns River State
  • Region 8 Division II Softball Player of the Week: Molly Bender, Lake-Sumter State
  • Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week: Darian Pippin, Lake-Sumter State

NOTE: Basketball recipients will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week, which will be announced on Wednesday. The NJCAA will begin baseball and softball Player of the Week honors the week of February 27.

Sports Updates

  • Men's & Women's Basketball: The NJCAA Division I South Atlantic District/FCSAA Basketball Tournament returns to Raider Arena at Northwest Florida State College, March 8-11. Tickets can be purchased online through NWFraiders.com. The NJCAA Division II Region 8 Men's Basketball Tournament will take place Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at either Florida Gateway College or Palm Beach State College. The winner of the three-team event will advance to the DII South Atlantic District B Championship Game.
  • Women's Flag Football: The FCSAA's newest sport debuts Saturday, February 25 when Florida Gateway hosts Xavier University for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
  • Women's Golf: Two-time defending national champion Seminole State College kicked off its spring schedule with a 10th place finish at Jacksonville University's Sea Best Tournament. The Raiders finished 15 strokes ahead of rival Daytona State College.
