TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 30, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Volleyball.

Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for all events/matches through August 28)
Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Player of the Week: Barbara Koehler, Florida SouthWestern
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Kiaraliz Perez, Miami Dade
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Setter of the Week: Roberta Purashaj, Florida SouthWestern
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Player of the Week: Anyaliz Rodriguez, Pensacola State
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Alyssa Guarino, Lake-Sumter State
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Setter of the Week: Julianne Lindsey, St. Johns River State
All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Fall Sports Updates
- Volleyball
- Division I: Florida SouthWestern soars to the No. 1 NJCAA ranking, thanks to three wins over nationally-ranked opponents at the Battle at the Beach Tournament. The Bucs are one of five teams from Region 8 in the Top 20.
- Division II: Three Region 8 teams are in the NJCAA rankings, led by No. 13 Lake-Sumter State.
- Men's Soccer: Daytona State College is ranked No. 5 in the NJCAA's first regular season poll while Eastern Florida State checks in at No. 15
- Women's Soccer: Defending national champion Eastern Florida State sits atop the NJCAA's first regular season poll while Daytona State is ranked No. 20
- Cross Country: The Road to Tallahassee kicks into high gear this weekend as teams from across the region will head to the VSU Border Clash, Fire Short Course Invitational and the TCC XC Open/NJCAA Pre-Nationals, held at Tallahassee's Apalachee Regional Park, site of the 2022 NJCAA Championships.
