FSW's Tracey, Santa Fe's Brown named NJCAA Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 22, 2023) - The NJCAA announced its Basketball Player of the Week awards on Wednesday and a pair of Region 8 standouts were recognized.

Florida SouthWestern State College's Jadrian Tracey was named Division I Men's Player of the Week while Santa Fe College's Malea Brown was tabbed the Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Tracey, a sophomore guard from Fort Myers, Fla., averaged 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.5 steals in two games, leading the Bucs to a pair of Southern Conference victories. 

He shot 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the field, 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from three and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Tracey posted a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in a win vs. Miami Dade College, then tallied 34 points on 12-of-16 shooting (7-of-10 from three) in a win vs. State College of Florida. 

Brown, a sophomore guard from Putnam Hall, Fla., averaged 33.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 4.5 steals and 1.0 block in two games for the Saints. 

She shot 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field, 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from three and 60.0 percent (3-of-5) from the free throw line

After a 22-point effort against Eastern Florida State College, Brown scored a school-record 44 points on 18-of-28 shooting (8-of-12 from three) in a 68-65 win vs. St. Petersburg. 

This is Brown's second NJCAA Player of the Week award this season. 

Both Brown and Tracey were named NJCAA Region 8 Players of the Week on Tuesday.
