Region 8 Sweeps NJCAA Basketball Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 17, 2021) - The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its Players of the Week on Wednesday, and Region 8 swept the Division I Basketball awards.

Eastern Florida State College's Natalia Beaumont and Tallahassee Community College's El Ellis were named Women's and Men's Player of the Week, respectively. 

Beaumont, a freshman forward from Emu Heights, Australia, averaged 19.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 5.0 blocks in three games. She shot 59.5 percent (22-of-37) from the field and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the free throw line.

Beaumont posted double-doubles in each game, including a 17-point, 16-rebound, 8-block effort against St. Petersburg College.

Ellis, a sophomore guard from Durham, N.C., averaged 18.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists in three games. He shot 45.0 percent (18-of-40) from the field, 42.1 percent (8-of-19) on threes and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the free throw line.

Ellis posted his first career double-double - 23 points, 10 assists - against Chipola College and also had a game-high eight rebounds.
