NJCAA Region 8 Baseball/Softball Notebook: April 9

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 9, 2019) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Baseball and Softball Coaches' Polls for April 9 and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played April 1-7.

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released April 16.

NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week
Josh Shrouder, Indian River State

Coconut Creek, Fla. 

  • Batted .500 (6-for-12) with five runs scored, one double, three home runs and six RBIs in three games during the voting period
  • Hit safely in each game of a three-game set against Eastern Florida State, leading the Pioneers to a series victory
  • Homered and drove in two runs in game one against the Titans; was 3-for-4 with two homers in game three

  • Tossed a six-inning no-hitter in the Patriots' 12-0 win at Daytona State
  • He walked two and struck out 13

NJCAA Region 8 Softball Player of the Week

  • Batted .750 (9-for-12) with 11 runs scored, one double, four home runs, 11 RBIs and three stolen bases in four games during the voting period
  • Hit safely in each game as the Indians posted a 3-1 week and clinched the Panhandle Conference Championship
  • Was 6-for-7 with four home runs and nine RBIs in a doubleheader against Tallahassee

  • In 10 total innings, she allowed three hits, one unearned run and seven walks while striking out eight
