TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 5, 2018) - With the fall sports season in the books, numerous student-athletes from Region 8 have garnered All-America honors from the NJCAA.
Women's volleyball garnered the most attention, with a total of seven all-America honorees. Three of those were named First-team Division I All-America - Miami Dade College's Kimberlie Apolinario Correa (Fr./MB) and Tiziana Baumrukova (So./S) and Polk State College's Mariane Cassiano (Fr./OH). Both Miami Dade and Polk State advanced to the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, with Miami Dade making it to the championship match before falling to the College of Southern Idaho.
St. Petersburg College's Andressa Parise (Fr./MB) was named a Division I second-team all-American while Pasco-Hernando State College's Camden Bitter (So./OH) was named a Division II second-team all-American.
Two additional players were named Honorable Mention All-Americans - Florida State College at Jacksonville's Nicolette Ramos (So./OH) was a Division I pick while Lake-Sumter State College's Emma Gray (So./OH) was a Division II selection. Gray powered Lake-Sumter State's run to the Sun-Lakes Conference/FCSAA Division II Championship and the school's first-ever trip to a national tournament.
In women's soccer, a pair of Eastern Florida State College standouts earned second-team honors - freshman defender Morgan Miller and sophomore midfielder Cristina Garriga. The duo helped the Titans a national semifinal appearance in the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
In men's soccer, Eastern Florida State had two second-team all-America selections - Nour Moaoui (Fr./GK) and Rhys Myers (So./D). Third-team all-America honorees included Broward College's Robi Obrstar (So./D) and Daytona State College's Creggton Charlton (So./F).
