Seminole's Sexton, Chipola's Grogan earn NJCAA honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 28, 2018) - The NJCAA announced its weekly player of the week awards on Thursday and Region 8 picked up two more honors.

Seminole State College's Meghan Sexton was named NJCAA Division I Softball Player of the Week and Chipola College's Andrew Grogan was named NJCAA Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week. 

Sexton, a sophomore shortstop from Orlando, Fla., batted .684 (13-for-19) with 11 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, five RBI and three stolen bases in six games during the voting period. She hit safely and scored at least one run in all six games, all victories for the Raiders. 

Sexton was a combined 5-for-7 in a doubleheader vs. Hillsborough then closed the week going 4-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in game two vs. Broward. 

She was named Region 8 Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday. 

Grogan, a sophomore right-hander, was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA during the voting period. 

In eight innings of work, he struck out nine.
