Seminole's Koehler, Indian River's Gollin earn NJCAA honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 22, 2018) - The NJCAA announced its weekly player of the week awards on Thursday and Region 8 picked up two more honors.

Seminole State College's Ethan Koehler was named NJCAA Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Indian River State College's Liz Gollin was named NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Both Koehler and Gollin received NJCAA Region 8 Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday. 

Koehler, a sophomore lefty from Ocoee, Fla., wasn't involved in a decision but did post a 0.00 ERA during his only outing of the voting period. 

Against Indian River State, he pitched eight shutout innings in a game Seminole State eventually won in ten innings. He allowed only one hit and two walks while striking out 14. 

Gollin, a freshman right-hander from Boca Raton, Fla., was 3-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA in four appearances during the voting period.

She helped Indian River State to a perfect 6-0 week, including a sweep of nationally-ranked Central Florida. Against the Patriots, she threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout in game one, with 11 strikeouts; in game two, she pitched 2.2 innings of one-hit ball to earn the save. 

For the week, she totaled 16.2 innings in the circle and allowed seven hits, one unearned run and five walks while striking out 22.
