NJCAA Region 8 Baseball/Softball Notebook: March 21

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 21, 2017) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Baseball and Softball Coaches’ Polls for March 21 and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played March 13-19. 

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released March 28.

Daniel Reyes, Broward
Sophomore – RF
Miami, Fla. 

  • Batted .444 (8-for-18) with four runs scored, one double, three home runs, nine RBIs and one stolen base in four games during the voting period
  • Hit safely in three of the four games
  • Was 1-for-4 with a solo homer vs. Miami Dade
  • After going 2-for-4 in series opener vs. Indian River State, he had a career day in game two against the Pioneers, going 5-for-6 with two home runs and eight RBIs

  • 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance during the voting period
  • Pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout vs. Southern Conference rival Eastern Florida State
  • Walked two batters and struck out eight

NJCAA Region 8 Softball Player of the Week
Barbara Woll, Chipola
Freshman – CF
Brazil 

  • Batted .643 (9-for-14) with three doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs and six stolen bases in six games during the voting period
  • Hit safely in five of the six games, all wins for Chipola, and also drew five walks during the week
  • Was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in DH sweep vs. Tallahassee
  • Homered in 7-0, game two win over nationally-ranked Northwest Florida State
  • Was 2-for-2, scored twice and doubled against both Pensacola State and Tallahassee at the Panhandle Round Robin

  • Three complete-game victories, including a six-inning no-hitter vs. Tallahassee and a three-hit shutout vs. nationally-ranked Northwest Florida State
  • For the week, she totaled 20 innings in the circle and allowed nine hits, one unearned run and five walks while striking out 16
