COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 15, 2017) - Region 8 claimed two more player of the week honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this week.

Pasco-Hernando State College's Tyler Beck was named NJCAA Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week while the College of Central Florida's Destinee Lizzmore was named Division I Baseball Player of the Week.

Beck, a sophomore right-hander from South Bend, Ind., went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance during the voting period.

Beck tossed a complete-game shutout in Pasco-Hernando State’s 3-0 win over Florida SouthWestern.

He allowed only six hits and one walk while striking out 13.

Lizzmore, a sophomore second baseman from Jacksonville, Fla., batted .379 (11-for-29) with 12 runs scored, five home runs, 16 RBIs and six stolen bases in nine games during the voting period.

She helped Central Florida to an 8-1 record during the week.

Lizzmore hit safely in eight of the nine games and scored at least one run in seven of the nine. In February 11 games vs. Salt Lake and Northwest Florida State the FPU Classic, she went a combined 3-for-6 with three home runs and six RBIs. The next day, she homered and drove in three runs vs. Lake Land.

Beck is the third student-athlete from Region 8 to capture a baseball player of the week honor. St. Petersburg College's Chris Busch and Trevon Jensen won national player of the weeks honors, February 1 and 8, respectively.

Lizzmore is the third student-athlete from Region 8 to capture a softball player of the week honor, joining State College of Florida's Carlee Lucas and Central Florida's Shayne O'Connell, who were national pitcher of the week recipients February 1 and 8, respectively.
