NJCAA Region 8 Baseball/Softball Notebook: February 7

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 7, 2017) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Baseball and Softball Coaches’ Polls for February 7 and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played January 30-February 5. 

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released February 14.

NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week
Trevor Jensen, St. Petersburg
Sophomore – SS
Dunedin, Fla. 

  • Batted .563 (9-for-16) with eight runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and ten RBIs in four games during the voting period
  • Led St. Petersburg to a 3-1 record
  • Hit safely in all four games, including three multi-hit outings; and scored and recorded an RBI in three of four games
  • Was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a homer and five RBIs vs. Pensacola State (February 3)
  • Homered in game one of a DH with Pensacola State (February 4) and was 2-for-3 with three runs scored
  • Finished his week by going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three driven in vs. Pasco-Hernando State

  • Started and went seven innings to earn the win over Pasco-Hernando State (February 4)
  • Allowed only three hits, one earned run and three walks while striking out 12 to run his record to 2-0 on the season

  • Led Chipola to a 4-0 record
  • Hit safely and scored in all four games
  • Was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a homer and four RBIs in game one of DH with Alabama Southern (February 1)
  • Capped her week by going 2-for-2 with a run scored, a homer and four RBIs in game two of a DH vs. Enterprise State (February 4)

  • 2-0, 0.00 ERA in two appearances during the voting period
  • Pitched a one-hit shutout in game one of a DH vs. State College of Florida (February 2), a game in which she struck out nine
  • Was the game one winner in DH vs. Miami Dade (February 4), tossing four shutout innings of no-hit ball
  • For the week, totaled 11 innings, allowing one hit, no runs and three walks while striking out 16
