Indian River State opens swimming and diving season

FT. PIERCE, Fla. (October 27, 2016) - The Indian River State College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams started their 2016-17 season in good form.

The River men opened its schedule against Nova Southeastern University on October 14, the first of two meets against the highly-ranked NCAA Division 2 program from South Florida. One week later, the women took to the pool with a tri-match against Nova Southeastern and Florida International on October 21.

Although Indian River State did not come out of either competition with a team victory, the team did show great potential and came out with a few individual wins.

The men were led by freshman Gabriele Sasia, sophomore Olympic trials qualifier Nick Loomis, and sophomore Joel Hansson, who all came out of the meets with individual wins.

The Indian River State women showed its strength in the sprint freestyle relay during the meet on October 14 by taking the win.

Indian River State will next face Florida Atlantic University on Friday, October 28 at 3pm.
